Sunday rest? Not with us at the Mierendorff Elementary School in Berlin Charlottenburg! On Sunday, May 26, the schoolyard, which is usually so quiet on weekends, was transformed into a lively and colorful neighborhood flea market. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there was a lot going on: More than 50 stalls, run by school staff, teachers and, above all, residents of the Mierendorff neighborhood, invited visitors to browse and discover. The flea market offered a rich selection of children’s and adult clothing, toys and books – a paradise for all those who were looking for special finds.
In addition to the bargains, there were also culinary delights: Volunteers sold homemade cakes, hot dogs and drinks. The smell of fresh popcorn wafted through the air while the children played exuberantly on the bouncy castle. Another highlight was the stand of class 2b, where you could put together an individual colourful bag made of fruit gums – an action that not only promoted mental arithmetic, but also the class budget. The proceeds of the day will benefit the school’s support association, which is committed to the implementation of various educational projects. In this way, every euro is invested in the future of our children. The neighbourhood flea market was once again a complete success and shows that a school can also be a place of encounter and togetherness on weekends. We would like to thank everyone who took part and contributed to making this day a special experience.
