Children bring mini robots to play football

From March to July 2024, 20 second and third graders met in our learning workshop and brought Ozobots to life once a week with their crazy ideas.

Ozobots are small, intelligent robots that react to lines and colors. They can be programmed to perform different patterns of movement by recognizing and responding to specific color codes. The children can program them intuitively without any previous knowledge, i.e. give simple instructions. In the process, they learn to understand logical processes in a playful way.

The little ozobots were made to dance, raced, searched for paths and treasures. Everyone enjoyed the small football World Cup the most, for which capable goalkeepers and players had to be programmed.

The children infected each other with enthusiasm and creativity to control their Ozobots. They exchanged ideas incessantly, helped and explained to each other what they had discovered. Particularly appealing to all participants was the visual programming language OzoBlockly, with the help of which the small robots could be “refueled” on tablets and then sent on their journey.

The organizer and head of the working group, our parent representative Mr. Rakowsky, managed to transfer his own enthusiasm for creativity in the digital world to the children. We would like to thank him expressly and very warmly for his voluntary commitment. The plan is to continue this club in the next school year and to win over even more children for playful programming.
